The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward of up to $5000.00 for information that leads to an arrest in the following homicide case being investigated by the Bakersfield Police Department. On Saturday, March 14, 2009, Norberto Gutierrez Jr. was found murdered in his apartment at 3504 Palm Street. Witnesses said they saw a teal colored four door hatchback vehicle, similar to a Hyundai, parked in front ofGutierrez’ apartment
prior to the murder. The vehicle was occupied by a white female, late thirties early forties, 6’0” tall, medium build with blonde hair and a Black male adult. July 5, 2009 - HOMICIDE (posted 9/11/09) IN CUSTODY
On 7/5/09 at about 12:34 a.m., the Bakersfield Police Department’s Communication Center received a call of a possible assault with a firearm near the intersection of First Street and “T” Street. Patrol officers arrived on scene within a minute and located multiple victims of gunshots. The victims had all been attending a family reunion/Independence Day celebration at a residence in the 200 block of “T” Street. Arriving officers located a total of five victims who had sustained gunshot injuries. Four were subsequently transported to local area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries. The fifth had succumbed to his injuries and was determined to be deceased at the scene.Two of the suspects in this case have been arrested, Darryl Stewart (20), and a 15 year old female. Oustanding suspect has been identified as
Bennie Elwood West (19), Black Male 6’1, 170, black hair, brown eyes.
June 5, 2009 - Felony Hit and Run(posted 6/17/2009)
On June 5, 2009 at approximately 10:25 pm a nine year old male juvenile was crossing the street on Center Street west of Barlow. As the juvenile crossed the street, juvenile was hit by a Ford Escort, which then fled the scene eastbound. The force of the vehicle strike propelled the juvenile into a nearby parked vehicle. The juvenile sustained major injuries but is expected to survive. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Secret Witness at 322-4040.
January 15, 2009 – HOMICIDE(posted 3/3/2009)
On 1/15/09, at approximately 8:00 p.m. Bakersfield Police received a report of a shooting in the 1800 block of Lacey Street. Officers arrived and located the victim, Terrance Edward Haney Jr. 19 years old, suffering from a gunshot to the upper torso. He was transported to Kern Medical Center where he died. Prior to the shooting, the victim had reportedly been standing in the driveway of an apartment complex. There were reports of a possible confrontation between the victim and a suspect which was followed by several gunshots. There is no suspect information at this time. December 25, 2008 – HOMICIDE (posted 2/27/2009)
On 12-25-08 at approximately 1:47 A.M. officers responded to an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Loyalton Ave for a 911 call regarding an unknown situation. The caller advised that a possible gunshot had been heard. When officers arrived they were directed to the north side of the apartment complex where they located Luis Eduardo Martinez 19 of Bakersfield. Martinez was found to have suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was deceased. No suspects were seen or heard prior to or after the shooting. It is unknown if this incident is gang related. January 9, 2009 – HOMICIDE(posted 2/27/2009)
The Bakersfield Police Department is continuing to investigate the murders of Curtis and Tina West which occurred on 1/8/09 in the parking lot of the Day and Night Market, 355 Chester Avenue. The victims had just purchased items from the store and were walking home. As they walked across the parking lot on the north side of the store, the suspect walked up to them and began shooting. The victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to Kern Medical Center where they died. The suspect has been described as an: unknown race male, 5’8 – 6’0”, stocky build, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants.
The police department has received several phone calls providing detectives with leads in the case. Detectives handling the case are requesting that those same individuals, who have already called, call back and speak with detectives. They can do so and still remain anonymous. January 15, 2009 – ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON(posted 2/27/2009)
On 1/15/09, at approximately 7:01 p.m. Bakersfield Police received a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of 8th Street. Officers arrived and located the victim of a shooting outside the market at 8th Street and ‘L’ Street. The victim, an adult male, had been shot in the buttocks. Officers located three additional victims, all adult males, on 8th Street between ‘L’ Street and ‘M’ Street. One of the victims had sustained major injuries and the other two sustained minor injuries. All four victims were transported to local hospitals. The victim with major injuries, had been shot in the upper torso, and died at the hospital. The other two victims had been shot in the leg. The surviving victims injuries do not appear to be life threatening. The victims, who were all together, were walking east on 8th Street. The suspect vehicle drove up from behind and an occupant of the vehicle began shooting. The suspect vehicle fled east on 8th Street. The suspect vehicle has been described as a: dark colored SUV, similar to a GMC Yukon. There is no information on the number of occupants and no suspect description. January 1, 2009 - HIT AND RUN WITH MAJOR INJURIES (posted 2/18/2009)
The California Highway Patrol is investigating a hit and run with major injuries that occurred on Jan. 1, 2009, at approximately 0053 hours, Bakersfield resident, Robert C. Rodman (53 yrs), was riding his bicycle eastbound on Rosedale Hwy approaching Maher Way. Mr. Rodman made a left or a u-turn at the intersection and was struck by an unknown vehicle. Mr Rodman sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the vehicle that struck Mr. Rodman fled the scene. September 27, 2008 -HOMICIDE (posted 2/18/2009) Carlos Ramirez was shot by an unknown assailant(s) on Saturday 09/27/2008 in the 8600 block of Panama Road in Lamont. August 9, 2007 - HOMICIDE(posted 2/18/2009)
On 8-9-2007, Larry Raymond Bowen, 26 years old, was shot and killed while in a vacant residence at 1308 Cheatham in Bakersfield. There are indications that multiple people were in the house at the time of the shooting. November 21, 2008 - Unsolved homicide
The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward of up to $5,000.00 for
information leading to the arrest and the filing of a complaint against the
suspect(s) involved in the murder of Brenda Faye Adkins.
On Sunday, October 12, 2008, Brenda Faye Adkins (51) was found murdered in the north alley of Kentucky Street at Baker Street. The Bakersfield PoliceDepartment is seeking any information related to this crime.
Everyone in the community who has information regarding this incident is asked to call police. Even if they believe the information is unimportant or was perhaps already provided.

October 24, 2008 - Homicide
On October 24th, 2008, at about 9:15 PM, Victor Gonzalez was shot and killed in front of the business located at 2101 Niles Street in East Bakersfield. Gonzalez was driving a black and brown colored 1989 Chevrolet Blazer that was parked inside a car wash bay next to the business.Several witnesses saw three Hispanic males in their 20’s chasing and attacking Gonzalez as he ran down Niles Street. The suspects were all described as wearing dark colored sweatshirts with the hoods covering their heads.

Acosta is wanted in connection with a hit and run traffic collision that resulted in the death of his passenger.
October 26, 2008 - Hit and Run
Victor Hugo Flores Acosta (DOB 02/05/1988) was driving westbound on SR-223 east of Towerline Road. Acosta's vehicle ran off of the road and over turned. The right front passenger, Manuel Gomez Morales, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The collision occurred on 10/26/2008 at approximately 1713 hours. Acosta fled the scene on foot. A perimeter was set up and a search was conducted with the use of a KCSO K-9, but Acosta was not located. Acosta's last known address is 10401 San Diego Street #D7, Lamont, CA 93241
